  • Mac dictation types every word, um and all. Presto writes what you meant, lays it out for the app you're in, and lets you edit by voice.

  • Local runs entirely on your Mac and works offline. Cloud sends audio to a speech provider and text to a writing model, so it needs the internet. Nothing is kept. More in the privacy overview.

  • Same habit: hold a key, talk, let go. Presto adds an offline Local mode for $4.99 once, and a capsule you can put anywhere on screen.

  • Most people speak at 150 to 190 words a minute and type at 40 to 50.

  • A Mac with Apple Silicon on macOS 14 or later. English for now, with British or American spelling.
